A 2nd edition of this worthy text increases listening examples to four CD's and still includes an interactive CD-ROM and companion website. Congratulations to the author for configuring a text that could work in a ten week quarter calendar. The nine chapter format with introduction would be difficult to complete without careful choices-- but a tri-mester calendar would be a snap. The last third of the text considers evolution of American music to the 20th century, after following the traditional Euro-centric focus on art music. Other texts (like Willoughby) attempt to include more diversity from world music cultures, but require a longer term-- the semester calendar.

Charmng, Tragic and funny! I have read True Grit several times and loved BOTH movies as well. I'm now reading it with my 11 year old daughter, who loves it. (and there are so few books we can agree on!) A real "girl power" novel that's doesn't feel contrived or forced. Mattie's just a really strong character and in the end, the title "True Grit" is as much about her as it is about her tough guy guardian, Rooster Cogburn

This is her favorite present and will be very pleased that I was able to purchase it this year.

This is a great calendar that gives one a daily math puzzle that can involve all facets of Math from Geometry to Algebra to Calculus. It keeps the brain active and provides fun for the number loving person.

This is the second one I've had.

I enjoy the challenges, but I actually have another calendar that I use as an actual calendar. You cannot use the Mathematics Calendar to keep a record of appointments or anything like that because each box is totally filled with the math problem. I would prefer a larger size calendar and one that has some blank space in each day box to write a note or work the math problem. Those are the reasons I give it three stars. Having said that, I will probably buy it again in 2015.

I knew the book was used, but it had heavily marked up and had lots of writing in a foreign language. The book should have been trashed instead of resold.

Refreshing insight on Greek-American organizations

Mr. Fatouros has written an excellent and refreshing account of the corrupting nature of numerous Greek-American organizations, including the Archdiocese. I use the term refreshing because it is close to impossible to read such scathing criticism in traditional news outlets due to the control by individuals and organizations presented in this book as "PIMPS". The book is well researched with supporting references clearly listed, and is a wealth of information for anyone researching the organizations of this community (including hopefully a prosecutor).

There is certainly a degree of left-wing proclivity, but it is fairly metered with the focus being on the actual activities and illegalities of the subjects being presented.

A Good Starting Point for those interested in understanding Greek America's failure as a Community

Mitch Fatouros' "Greek-Americans Pimps" is a well-researched and well-documented book that is hard to put down. Using easily accessible information Fatouros puts together an almost unbelievable story that is sure to raise many questions inside the Greek America Community. For those interested in learning the disgraceful truth behind our community's "leadership" and Church, Greek-American Pimps, is an excellent source of information.

Although the author focuses on the illegal activities of those self-proclaimed "leaders" of a network of organizations with Conservative political leanings, I can only hope that Mr. Fatouros follows up "Greek American Pimps" with a just as well-researched and written sequel exposing those corrupt Greek-Americans with Liberal political affiliations.

Insightful and Revealing

For someone who has not been very close to the American Greek Diaspora, the book GREEK AMERICAN PIMPS, Charity Corrupted By Politics, Lobbies & Criminal Enterprises, was extremely informative. The stories, involving prominent figures, intertwine and are very revealing pinpointing social, political, and religious aspects of the Greek Diaspora completely unknown to me that have gone completely wrong in most cases for personal gain. I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about Greek Americans and the ways that they have operated with stories evolving over three continents and a few Empires, and continuously affecting the current image and functions of the Orthodox Church, Politics, and " Greek-lobbies".
