Paul Thornton is an informative author, and I also had the privilege of taking his class on Principles of Management. His format is very effective, and provides ample information and secondary sources from which to expand his lessons. The chapters are laid out in a progressive manner, which gives the student and/or reader a solid foundation to build upon as they move forward.

Thornton is very knowledgable on the subjest of management and leadership, and it certainly shows--both in person, and through his written material.

I took a class that required this book. It has so much useful information in it. I have since completed the class but the book never leaves my desk. I refer back to it for my job, new business, and personal life. It has become a very valuable piece of equipment that I am thankful to have.

This book has amazing business concepts and how to handle many different situations. I started reading this book as a relationship person and grew into a manager by the end. I am ready to take on the business world.Thank you Paul Thornton.

About the Author
JERRY HEINES, PhD received his PhD in Theoretical High Energy Particle Physics from the University of Connecticut in 1979. During his years as a graduate student he pursued his interest in Martial Arts with the practice of Taekwondo and Judo. He since left the sport of Taekwondo to pursue his interest in Muay Thai primarily training at the Fairtex gyms. He has also worked as a stunt actor in several major television series such as Spencer for Hire by Robert Parker as well as others. As a SAG member, Jerry has also worked as an actor in several major motion pictures. Better known by his opponents in the ring, students and friends as Ahn The Angel Fairtex, Amorndet Ranjanthuek began his training in Muay Thai at the age of 8. He had his first fight at the age of eight as well and by the time he was twelve years old, he had accumulated a sufficient number of wins to be invited to train at the Fairtex Muay Thai gym in Bangplee, Thailand. At the age of fourteen, Mr. Anh had the privilege to fight at Adsorn Stadium where he won the title belt. Later that year, he became the top fighter in Thailand at the age of 14 in the 30kg weight division. Mr. Anh continued to fight for Fairtex Muay Thai, with the name Pon Fairtex, as he trained under Ajarn Apidej Sit-Hirun and Ajarn Monlit Sitpordaeng. Among his major accomplishments was winning by decision, an exciting and close match with the number 1 fighter in Southern Thailand at the time and Rajadamnern Stadium Champion, Mr. Sing Sampan. When Mr. Anh finally retired from the ring, he had 245 professional fights to his credit, fighting twice in one night on numerous occasions.

I have always has an enormous respect for American boxing and Muay Thai (Thai Kickboxing). In my more than 50 years of martial arts study I have been a student and instructor of many combat arts (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Wrestling, Boxing, Kickboxing, combatives and Police tactics). The first book by these authors was Explosive Muay Thai: Beyond the basics. This is a companion text (Muay Thai Fighting Strategies by Jerry Heines with Kru Amorndet Ranjanthuek) and it covers more advanced material on the Muay Thai fighting art.

This 146 page text is organized into seven areas. They are as follows: The first section explains the value of Muay Thai training, which includes a brief history. The second section provides information on physical training. Diet and nutrition factors are explored in section three. The fourth section has a detailed explanation of the importance of mental training. The fifth section deals with a topic of importance for any combat activity which is training how to be more relaxed while fighting. Section six shows the targets for competition. The final and longest section goes into great detail on Muay Thai sparring.

Though the information in this book can stand alone; nevertheless, if you are seeking a more complete understanding of Muay Thai you should probably read both books by these authors. One last point. When it comes to any psychomotor skill the best results are obtained when you combine the information in the book with actual hands-on training with an instructor.

Morris Venden is a wonderful writer who touches your soul

The book arrived on time and in good condition. :)

I have never read a book by Morris Venden that didn't touch my soul and this one was no exception. I normally try to buy one for me and one to give away - and sometimes I only have one and wind up giving it away and then look for another one for me. He helps me understand and I love to read his books and if I read it more than once, I get something new out of it everytime I read it.
